An App that’s a perfect exchange between parents and their teenagers. The teenager gets the car - the parents get peace of mind.
One in five new drivers crash in their first year. Speeding and using smartphones are the two main causes. Awareness campaigns don’t seem to grab teenager’s attention. What could Toyota do to make them take notice?
Presenting: Toyota Safe & Sound. An App that’s a perfect exchange between parents and their teenagers. The teenager gets the car - the parents get peace of mind. Both parents and the child need to download the App. Once it’s paired with the child’s phone, it stops incoming calls and social media pings when driving. That allows the driver to listen to his og her music through Spotify, but the moment the App detects the speed limit is broken or the phone being picked up it will stop playing his og her cool music and mom or dad’s playlist will kick in, that is to say, embarrasing music. And no teenager wants to be seen uncool in front of a date or his or her friend’s.
Using Google Maps and
Spotify technology
The App has to be downloaded by mom or dad and their teenager.
Then mom or dad and the teenager can pair their phones together.
When the App detects movement, the child’s phone will automatically enter ‘Do not disturb’ mode. But the driver can still play their music through Spotify.
As soon as the App detects the car going over 15 km/h by using Google Maps technology or it senses the phone being picked up by using Android’s gyroscope / accelerometer, it will automatically stop playing the teenager’s playlist and start playing mom and dad’s playlist.
Once their son or daughter are back home and the keys are returned, only then can the App be disabled by the parent - then they will get a summary on the teenager’s driving performance.
